An industrial central water chiller is a refrigeration device used to provide enough capacity to serve multiple process applications at the same time. Central chillers are designed to circulate a fluid medium (typically water, or a water-glycol solution) through a process application for COOLING typically between -5℃ to 26℃. The chiller includes the refrigeration circuit and controls and is installed together with the pumping system. The pumping system can be an integral part of the chiller, but usually the two parts are installed separately. Central chillers are used for higher cooling capacity requirements and provide a cost-effective means of cooling multiple processes without the need for a single portable cooler dedicated to each process. Central chillers are also very energy efficient, utilizing special compressor technology such as oil-free designs. Capacities of these systems range from 10 tons to 250 tons. Chillers are often modular and can be added to the system in the future to expand cooling capacity.
